Summary
Scope of Responsibility:
King County District Court (KCDC) is seeking applicants for four (4) Court Coordinator positions. There is one opening at each of the following locations: Auburn, Issaquah and Shoreline Courthouses, and the Payment Center, located at the downtown Courthouse. Court Coordinators are responsible for leading and maintaining a team of Court Clerks who are committed to serving the public, and provide excellent customer service on a daily basis.
Although these four (4) positions will be selected for each one of these specific locations, a Court Coordinator may be assigned to work at any Courthouse locations within District Court. These Court locations include Shoreline, Seattle, Redmond, Issaquah, Bellevue, Burien, Kent, MRJC, Auburn, or the Payment Center.
King County District Court Profile: KCDC is the largest court of limited jurisdiction in the State of Washington and is currently responsible for processing over 200,000 matters per year, and includes 25 judges and approximately 250 employees in 9 locations. The Court is a leader in many areas involving public safety and access to justice, including the use of problem-solving courts, jail-alternative programs, technology and judge-managed probation services. Thirteen cities contract with King County for court services that are provided by the Court.Job Duties
- Maintain effective working relationships with Judges, staff, criminal justice agencies, other county agencies, and the public.
- Assist with the development of new projects and serve on committees as required.
- Supervise Court Clerks, including workload distribution, performance management and conflict resolution.
- Assist with hiring and employee engagement.
- Act as an advisor to clerical staff to resolve technical problems.
- Conduct staff meetings as required.
- Handle complex issues, questions, and sensitive and confidential matters.
- Assist in the formulation and implementation of court policies, rules, guidelines and procedures.
- Depending on Court location, maintain current knowledge of the process and procedures for: passports, bankruptcies, name changes, vehicle impounds, false alarm hearings, zoning ordinances, witness management, Master Calendar, Mental Health Court, warrants, search warrants, felony and jail calendars, and inquests.

- Audit procedures (Payment Center)
- Cash handling processes
- End of day reconciliation and end of month remittance process
- Audit reports (Payment Center)
- Track and assist with receipting errors among court locations (Payment Center)
- Perform other duties as needed.
Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills
- Knowledge of policies, procedures and laws pertaining to the operation of King County District Court.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with Judges, staff , and external stakeholders.
- Ability to build teams through employee engagement, performance management and development.
- Ability to plan, delegate, and coordinate work.
- Ability to continually improve processes, develop long-range plans and to evaluate results.
- Ability to develop and deliver data-heavy reports to internal and external audiences.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and resolve conflict at the lowest level in a high stress and unionized environment.
- Background in Finance (Payment Center)
- Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Court Administration, Business Administration, Criminal Justice, or other closely related degree.
- Any combination of education, training and experience that provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities for this position.
