Under the close and general supervision or direction and guidance of the supervising therapist, plans, organizes and implements rehabilitation programs in treatment and/or community services. EDUCATIONAL INCENTIVE: Possible educational incentive of 2.5%, 3.5%, or 5% based on completion of Associate’s, Bachelor’s, or Master’s degree. BILINGUAL INCENTIVE: Possible Bilingual incentive depending on the applicable MOA and the needs of the department. AGENCY/DEPARTMENT: Health Care Agency/Ventura County Medical Center - Rehab Services. Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant is represented by Service Employees International Union (SEIU) and is eligible for overtime compensation. NOTE: This class is within a bargaining unit that is subject to an “agency shop” arrangement, which mandates all regular employees either join Local 721 of the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) and pay dues as a member, or pay either a “service fee” to Local 721 or direct that an amount equivalent to the “service fee” be distributed to a qualified charitable organization. The eligible list established from this recruitment may be used to fill current and future regular, temporary, Per Diem Pool, fixed-term, intermittent and extra-help vacancies for this position within Health Care Agency. Examples Of Duties:
|
Duties may include, but are not limited to the following: · Provides occupational therapy services in accordance with the California State Practice Act. · Monitors client’s response to treatment and modifies treatment; and, reports observations, documents and maintains appropriate records. · Assists therapist in monitoring in areas of Range of Motion (R.O.M.), Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), functional mobility, muscle testing, and other areas of appropriate assessments. · In collaboration with an OTR; modifies positioning, and, fabricates splints and adapted equipment. · Provides education for patient, family, hospital, and school staff.~ |

These are entrance requirements to the examination process and assure neither continuance in the process nor placement on an eligible list. EDUCATION, TRAINING, and EXPERIENCE Must have graduated from an American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) approved occupational therapy assistant education program; OR must have successfully passed the Occupational Therapy Board exam for an Occupational Therapy Assistant. NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENT(S) Possession of a current valid certificate issued by the National Board for Certification of Occupational Therapy; OR, be eligible to apply for and obtain a certificate from the National Board for Certification of Occupational Therapy within the probationary period. Once obtained, a current valid California Certificate is a condition for continued employment. Bilingual English/Spanish required. Possession of a valid California driver license and proof of auto insurance may be required. Possession of a current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation certificate by date of hire. Once obtained, it is a condition to continued employment. Live scan fingerprinting may be required for some positions. Must possess the physical ability to lift and carry 50 pounds. DESIRABLE/PREFERRED Experience in acute inpatient; pediatrics and hand rehabilitation preferred.
