Under direction, evaluates, plans, coordinates and administers occupational therapy treatment programs for the rehabilitation of patients and consult with departments, other agency personnel, and necessary patient support members to coordinate their care; clinically supervises the work of staff occupational therapists, certified occupational therapy assistants, aides, volunteers, and students as needed; and performs other related work as required. EDUCATIONAL INCENTIVE: Possible educational incentive of 5% based on completion of Master’s degree. BILINGUAL INCENTIVE: Possible Bilingual incentive depending on the applicable MOA and the needs of the department. AGENCY: Health Care Agency-Children’s Medical Services Sr. Occupational Therapists are represented by the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) and are eligible for overtime compensation. NOTE: This class is within a bargaining unit that is subject to an “agency shop” arrangement, which mandates all regular employees either join Local 721 of the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) and pay dues as a member, or pay either a “service fee” to Local 721 or direct that an amount equivalent to the “service fee” be distributed to a qualified charitable organization. The eligible list established from this recruitment may be used to fill current and future regular, temporary, fixed-term, intermittent and extra-help vacancies for this position within the Health Care Agency. Examples Of Duties:
|
Duties may include, but are not limited to the following: · Evaluates, assesses, plans, develops and utilizes occupational therapy programs to meet the functional needs of patients. · With prescribing physician, patient, and family, sets functional goals for therapy. · Provides patient and family education to assist in achievement of functional goals. Coordinates occupational therapy programs with patient/caretaker, other team members involved in the care of assigned patients. · Applies, modifies, and fabricates, as needed, specific static and dynamic splints, and adaptive equipment to improve functional outcomes. · CCS therapists must participate in the IEP process and represent the Medical Therapy Program. · Assists in identifying and prioritizing department needs and overall planning. · Maintains current and appropriate documentation. · Participates in the maintenance of equipment and ordering adaptive equipment/supplies. · Participates with in-service training. · Supervises assistants, aides, and volunteers, and clerical staff in the absence of the supervisor. · Participates in improving organizational performance. · Under supervision, develops and implements department programs. |

These are entrance requirements to the examination process and assure neither continuance in the process nor placement on an eligible list. Senior Occupational Therapist EDUCATION, TRAINING, and EXPERIENCE A Bachelor's degree from an accredited school of occupational therapy or proof of equivalency, plus two (2) years experience as an occupational therapist; or successful completion of an internship program with the hiring department or an equivalent training program and one year of experience as an occupational therapist. NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENT(S) Possession of a current valid California Occupational Therapist License OR certification from the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT), OR must be eligible to apply for and obtain a certificate from the NBCOT within the probationary period. Once obtained, a current valid California Occupational Therapist License is a condition for continued employment. Must possess the physical ability to lift and carry 50 pounds. Must possess current CPR certification by date of hire and must be maintained as a condition of continued employment. Live scan fingerprinting may be required for some positions. Possession of a valid California driver’s license and proof of auto insurance may be required for some positions. DESIRABLE/PREFERRED Dysphagia skills preferred.
