Job Title: Physical Therapist/Sr. Physical Therapist - Regular & Per Diem Pool (Rehab Therapist III & IV)
Salary: $26.41 - $45.95 Hourly
$2,112.80 - $3,676.00 Biweekly
$4,577.73 - $7,964.67 Monthly
$54,932.80 - $95,576.00 Annually

Under general supervision, this position assists in the habilitation and rehabilitation of patients by providing services to patients with impairments, functional limitations, disability, or change in physical function and health status resulting from injury, disease, or other causes; and performs other related duties as required.
APPROXIMATE SALARY:
Physical Therapist: $26.41 - $36.93 per hour
Senior Physical Therapist: $29.07 - $42.81 per hour
Rehabilitation Therapist - PDP III: $41.60 per hour
Rehabilitation Therapist - PDP IV: $45.95 per hour

Regular employees in this classification may be eligible to receive Market Based Premium Pay depending on the current market wages.

EDUCATIONAL INCENTIVE: Possible educational incentive of based on completion of Master’s degree for regular positions only.

BILINGUAL INCENTIVE: Possible Bilingual incentive depending on the applicable MOA and the needs of the department for regular positions only.

AGENCY/DEPARTMENT: Health Care Agency/Ventura County Medical Center & Public Health - Children's Medical Services

Physical Therapist/Sr. Physical Therapist and Rehab Therapists III & IV are represented by the Service Employees International Union and are eligible for overtime compensation.

NOTE: This class is within a bargaining unit that is subject to an “agency shop” arrangement, which mandates all regular employees either join Local 721 of the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) and pay dues as a member, or pay either a “service fee” to Local 721 or direct that an amount equivalent to the “service fee” be distributed to a qualified charitable organization.


The eligible list established from this recruitment may be used to fill current and future regular, temporary, fixed-term, intermittent and extra-help vacancies for this position within the Health Care Agency .

 Examples Of Duties:
Duties may include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Performs evaluation and on going assessment of patient to determine physical and functional status.

     
  • Upon physician referral, establishes realistic functional goals based on the therapist’s evaluation and appropriate precautions.

     
  • Performs tests within the scope of physical therapy.

     
  • Applies and adjusts special adaptive equipment and splints.

     
  • Plans general and specific therapeutic exercises.

     
  • Selects, applies, and modifies, one or more therapeutic interventions, as needed.

     
  • Initiates and maintains records of patient’s status and progress.

     
  • Participates in on-going quality improvement.

     
  • Attends staff meetings, assigned clinics, and rounds as directed.

 Typical Qualifications:
These are entrance requirements to the examination process and assure neither continuance in the process nor placement on an eligible list.

EDUCATION, TRAINING, and EXPERIENCE
Physical Therapist/Rehabilitation Therapist - PDP III
A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited school of physical therapy, or proof of equivalency
AND
Possession of a current valid Physical Therapist License issued by the State of California; or eligibility to apply for and obtain a valid California Physical Therapist License within the probationary period. (Once obtained, a current valid California Physical Therapist License is a condition to continued employment.)

Senior Physical Therapist/Rehabilitation Therapist - PDP IV
A Bachelor‘s degree from an accredited school of physical therapy, or proof of equivalency
AND
Possession of a current valid Physical Therapist License issued by the State of California; or eligibility to apply for and obtain a valid California Physical Therapist License within the probationary period. (Once obtained, a current valid California Physical Therapist License is a condition to continued employment.)
AND
Two (2) years of physical therapy experience; OR successful completion of an internship program with the hiring department or an equivalent training program and one year of experience as a Physical Therapist.


NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENT(S)
The willingness to work various shifts (days/hours) and must indicate so on the application; The physical ability to lift and carry 50 pounds; Possession of a current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certificate by date of hire. (Once obtained, it is a condition to continued employment.)

Possession of a valid California driver license and proof of auto insurance may be required.

Live scan fingerprinting may be required for some positions.
