The individual in this part-time position will work a maximum of 1040 total hours in a rolling 12 month period; schedules may vary weekly.
Functions:
The candidate for this position must be able to:
Perform all duties in accordance with the City of Vancouver’s Operating Principles;
Work and act as a team player in all interactions;
Provide basic customer service skills and effectively respond to basic public inquiries and complaints in a courteous manner;
Exercise judgment and maintain a high degree of confidentiality;
Utilize proper safety precautions in all aspects of this job;
Follow policies and procedures of Parks and Recreation programs/area of assignment;
Read and write at a level necessary for successful job performance;
Supervise and assist members;
Multi-task in a fast paced environment;
Ensure a safe environment; and respond quickly and effectively in an emergency situation;
Utilize skills to promote good working relations;
Keep accurate attendance records and any other required data; Maintain positive, professional relationships between staff, and customers at all times;
Provide a high level of customer service at all times;
Project and maintain a positive image on behalf of the City of Vancouver with those contacted in the course of work;
Perform other duties required to accomplish the objectives of the position.
Qualifications:
The candidate in this position shall have the following qualifications:
Experience, desire and patience working with teens is preferred;
Basic knowledge of and experience in recreational and/or educational activities;
Must be able to work nights and weekends;
Experience working in a recreation program is desired;
Safety practices.
