The individual in this part-time position will work a maximum of 1040 total hours in a rolling 12 month period; schedules may vary weekly.
Salary depends on job function and experience.
Functions:
Communicate and work well with all program participants, other city staff, and any individuals contacted in the course of work;
Assist recreation leader and senior recreation helper in implementing comprehensive recreational programs for assigned area;
Respond to basic public inquiries regarding program guidelines;
Utilize proper safety precautions in all aspects of this job;
Assist with basic bookkeeping and reporting requirements for area of assignment;
Assist in providing a safe program and environment for participants and staff;
Take appropriate action in emergency situations;
Understand and implement Parks and Recreation Department policies and procedures;
Perform other duties as required through assigned program.
Qualifications:
Successful completion of a Washington State Patrol background check;
Previous work or volunteer experience or training in assigned program;
Previous experience working with people with special needs is desirable but not required;
Additional training/certification as required by Department or position.
