The University of South Alabama Medical Center is a regional referral center for south Alabama, southern Mississippi and the panhandle of Florida. It is also the areas’ only level I trauma center.
Essential Functions:
Receives verbal/written assignments from RN/LPN; assists patients with Activities of Daily Living; reports any changes in patient condition to RN/LPN; maintains neat and clean stocked areas and patient rooms; cleans equipment between each patient use; assists with and accompanies patients on admission, discharge, and transfer; answers patient call lights promptly; maintains 24-hour urine collections; performs catheter checks, Accu-checks, Incentive Spirometry, Trapeze Bar setup, and enemas; runs unit errands as needed; takes and records vital signs and weight; records accurate intake and output(to include NG, chest tube, ostomy bags, foley, etc.); signs/initials documentation; assists with completion of daily flowsheet; responds to overhead pages; adheres to current Infection Control/Safety Standards; regular and prompt attendance and the ability to work the schedule as defined and overtime as required. Related duties as required.
Minimum Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent. Acute Care experience is highly preferred.
