PROMOTIONAL OPENINGS

Tuesday, February 09, 2010

***The job postings on this page are promotional opportunities open only to
State of Tennessee Career Service employees . ***

PLEASE BE SURE TO READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS BELOW TO AVOID PROBLEMS OR DELAYS WITH YOUR APPLICATION FOR PROMOTION.

Instructions:   Applications for promotional job postings  will only be accepted from  current full-time Tennessee Career Service employees who are eligible to appear on promotional lists.   Each promotional posting will specify whether applications will be accepted from employees "Service-wide" or only from employees in a particular department, division or work unit. Unlike the traditional eligible lists which are maintained for use as vacancies occur, promotional eligible lists will be used only to fill the vacant position(s) specified in the promotional job posting.

To apply for a promotional job posting, click on any job title to access the job description and minimum qualification requirements, as well as the link to “Apply” for the job online.  Applying online will ensure that your application is received by the closing deadline and that you are placed on the corrrect promotional list (this particularly important when there are multiple promotional postings for the same job class title).

If you have already created an online application account (since March 3, 2009), then
you should log back  into your existing account to apply for a promotional opening (see URGENT message  below).  If this is your first time using the new online application system, you will need to create an account and select a user name and password. After you create your account, click on the "Create Application" link to begin entering your application.  The application you create to submit for a promotional opening may be used at a later time to apply for other job openings (including other Promotional Openings listed on this page or job openings listed on the Current Openings page).

URGENT MESSAGE TO CAREER SERVICE EMPLOYEES To ensure that your applicant record will correctly indicate your employee status (as required to allow your name to appear on promotional lists) you must maintain only one online account.  If you have created an account and applied online since March, 3, 2009, then you must continue using that account each time you apply for any Current Opening or Promotional Opening.  Also, it is critical that you do not allow any other person to submit an application using your account.  Each individual applicant must have his/her own account and must only use that one online account.  If your email address changes, you should revise the email address within your existing online account.

IMPORTANT!   You must include your complete education and employment history in your application for State of Tennessee employment regardless of the information you may have already supplied in a previous application to the Department of Human Resources.  Applications will be rejected if required information is not providedYour work experience information must be complete and detailed to ensure an accurate evaluation.  If you held more than one position within the same organization, you should list each position as a separate job.  For military experience, be sure to indicate the rank for each position held.  To receive credit for your education, be sure you provide the name and location of the school attended, units/credit hours earned, dates attended, and major field of study .  If you graduated, be sure to indicate the type of degree received.  An accurate evaluation cannot be achieved without accurate and complete information from you.

***Applications may only be submitted online from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. CST, Monday through Friday (except on State holidays).  The "Apply" link will only be available in the job postings during those hours.  If you need to access your online account during a time when the "Apply" link is not available, go to www.governmentjobs.com and click on the "Career Seekers" link.***

Online applications are stored on a secure site. Only authorized Human Resources employees and hiring authorities have access to the information submitted.
