| SUMMARY: Under general supervision, is responsible for supervisory duties of average difficulty in high volume food preparation at a correctional or youth facility; and performs related work as required. DISTINGUISHING FEATURES: This is the highest class in the Food Service Steward sub-series. An employee in this class directs the food preparation duties performed by Food Service Steward 1s and inmates or students at an institution. This class differs from Food Service Steward 1 in that an incumbent of the latter does not supervise regular employees. |

| Examples of Duties and Responsibilities: | ||
| 1. Supervises Food Service Steward 1s in the preparation of volume meals by Food Service Stewards and inmates or students in an institution by such duties as conducting staff meetings, scheduling work assignments, and training new employees and inmates or students. 2. Prevents excessive waste and cost by calculating the number of people and food to be prepared and otherwise controlling use of food commodities. 3. Maintains inventory by buying and storing stock and planning menus. 4. Ensures sanitation and hygiene and the safe operation of kitchen equipment. 5. Maintains security. 6. May act as the food service manager if needed. 7. May operate kitchen equipment. |

| Minimum Qualifications: | ||
| Education and Experience: Experience equivalent to four years of increasingly responsible full-time volume food preparation and service work including at least two years of supervisory or leadwork experience. | ||
