Job Title: SECURITY ENGINEER-IT

  • Responsible for developing, monitoring, evaluating and maintaining systems and procedures to protect host and network systems from unauthorized access.
  • This team member will evaluate existing data security procedures relating to firewalls, intrusion detection, vulnerability scanning, host operating systems, and network devices as well as identify new areas of risk within the IT infrastructure.
  • Additionally, this team member will be responsible for implementing and ensuring adherence to current security programs and policies.
  • Participates in emergency response team activities for responding to various security incidents.
  • Provides support for information security incidents including internal violations, hacker attacks, virus, and system outages.
  • This position requires a comprehensive familiarity with the various disciplines and aspects of an IT infrastructure.

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Provides second-level support to the Security Analyst to resolve issues. 2. Maintains an overview of what vulnerabilities to which the County is susceptible and recommends fixes or alternative measures 3. Maintains the signatures on the host and network based Intrusion Detection Systems. Investigates IDS anomalies 4. Maintains content filtering rules for electronic mail systems 5. Performs systems vulnerability scans to ensure data integrity 6. Updates Web content filtering rules and monitors for violations of internet policy 7. Maintains the integrity and validity of multiple firewalls 8. Performs system design, program design, program coding, testing and implementation of complex systems 9. Maintains single sign on data and functionality with multiple applications 10. Analyzes data from our 3rd party Security Auditor to ensure compliance 11. Works directly with the Senior Security Analyst on daily updates on incidents concerning security violations 12. Performs computer forensic examinations on compromised systems 13. Performs all other related duties involved in the operations of the IT Department as assigned or required.

 Minimum Requirements:
To apply, must have a Bachelor’s Degree or higher + six (6) full-time years of work experience in Information Technology Security. Master’s degree preferred.

To apply, must have at least one of the following certifications: CISSP, SSCP, GIAC, EnCE, CCE, MCCE, CCSP, or CEH.

Member of one (1) or more of the following organizations is preferred: InfraGuard, ISSA, HTCIA, ISACA, or any related group.
