|
Routine maintenance and service work attending a County solid waste facility or other designated location. |

Distinguishing Features of Work:
|
An employee in this class performs routine maintenance and customer service tasks at a County solid waste facility or other designated location. Duties assigned include: opening/closing facility and ensuring services are accessible during operating hours; performing routine inspections of facility and completing general site clean-up and maintenance; screening mixed solid waste, recyclables, demolition and other designated types of waste materials; explaining routine waste disposal policies/procedures and directing the public to appropriate disposal areas; collecting fees and recording daily transactions and waste material quantities, and performing waste materials handling and disposal in accordance with prescribed waste management regulations. Positions in this class are assigned at multi-purpose solid waste collection sites that require more varied decision making and site management duties than at disposal sites handling limited materials types such as household waste and recyclables. Under the direction of Solid Waste Department senior staff, work is performed in accordance with established solid waste disposal guidelines and procedures. |

FREQUENT: Lift and carry up to 10 pounds; push/pull up to 10 pounds; grasp/handle; stand; walk; and customer/public contact. OCCASIONAL: Lift and carry up to 50 pounds; climb ladders; reach; reach above shoulder; sit; stoop/bend; and work inside. |

Selection Process:

Minimum Qualifications Possession of a standard passenger vehicle driver's license. Must acquire a Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) Type III Waste Disposal Certification before being certified as a permanent employee in this classification. Experience & Training Rating 100% Points will be awarded for job-related experience and education exceeding the minimum qualifications. Only experience occurring during the ten most recent years will be used in determining this rating. Experience beyond ten years may be included on the application for purposes of meeting minimum qualifications or informing the hiring authority of your complete employment history.
