The Library system consists of 13 branches throughout Stanislaus County. The Library is recruiting to establish an eligible list for Library Page (Clerical/Community Aide II). The eligible list will be used to fill positions as they become available throughout Stanislaus County. Eligible lists are usually good for one year.
THE LIBRARY HAS:
- Regional Libraries in Salida, Turlock and Ceres
- Telephone reference available daily
- Internet access to electronic information
- New books, books on tape/CD, newspapers, magazines, exclusive premium content, on-line databases, DVD’s & videotapes
- Adult and family literacy tutoring programs
- Senior services, large print books, and home delivery for the elderly home-bound
MISSION STATEMENT:
The Library fosters the love of reading and opens the door to knowledge.
EXAMINATION PROCESS:
- All applicants will be notified by mail if they are invited to participate in the exam process
- A written examination is administered to all applicants meeting minimum qualifications listed on the flyer
- Passing exam scores will place the applicant's name on the eligible list in ranking order
- Candidates will be notified by mail of their final score for placement on the eligible list
- Eligible lists are usually good for up to one year
- Acceptable picture identification, such as a driver's license, must be presented at the time of the written exam

Typical Tasks, Skills, Abilities, & Knowledge:

TYPICAL TASKS
- Receives, sorts and shelves books, periodicals, documents, records, maps, film and other library material
- Maintains shelved files of library materials in proper order
- May assist in preparing books and materials for circulation by adding dust covers, washing and marking library materials
- Delivers library materials to appropriate locations
- Clears tables and other library areas of library materials
- Organizes and files alphabetic and numeric library materials
- Retrieves library materials upon request
- Other duties as assigned

- Follow oral and written instructions
- Perform routine clerical duties accurately and neatly
- Work cooperatively with others
- Deal with the public in a tactful and courteous manner
- Learn and apply principles of filing systems
Knowledge of:
- Proper usage of grammar and punctuation
- Alphabetic and numeric filing method
- Basic mathematics
- Modern office procedures and practices

CLASSIFICATION INFORMATION
Unless otherwise provided, this position is part of the Unclassified Service of the County and is designated unrepresented for labor relations purposes. Incumbents are also subject to overtime, standby and call-back assignments.
