| Safeguards and regulates conduct of patrons to prevent unsafe practices and accidents; promotes a positive and courteous attitude when enforcing policies, rules, regulations, laws, and ordinances governing the conduct of facility users; promptly warns users of existing safety hazards; effectively executes rescues and appropriate follow-up procedures; maintains and prepares daily records; assists in maintenance of pool and locker room areas; participates in scheduled in-service training, special events, and private pool rentals; promotes parks and recreation programs; motivates and directs staff; assists in training, interviewing, and skills testing of lifeguards; works 30-36 hours/week including early mornings, evenings, and weekends. |

Examples of Duties:
|
Safeguards and regulates the conduct of patrons at County aquatic facilities to prevent unsafe practices and accidents; warns users of safety hazards; effects rescues and first aid.
Promotes a positive & courteous attitude when enforcing pool policies, rules, and regulations;
Keeps aquatic facilities clean and safe at all times;
Helps supervise all aquatic complex activities;
Helps supervise revenue collection and deposits;
Helps track daily revenues;
Supervises all aquatic complex activities;
Assists in control of water quality, operation of pool filtration systems, and water quality testing;
Completes all required records and reports on a daily basis;
Helps plan & conduct all required in-service training programs;
Maintains proper updated safety requirements;
Conducts swimming tests to insure that patrons can swim in deep water;
Provides customer service to patrons, including handling customer conflicts and complaints;
Helps supervise special events and private parties at aquatic facilities;
Motivates and directs staff, assists in the training of new lifeguards, performs employee skill testing;
Helps order and maintain all supplies, equipment, and chemicals;
Performs related work as required. |

Typical Qualifications:
|
Minimum age requirement-16 years old.
Thorough knowledge of the methods, materials, practices, techniques, and equipment required to provide emergency
water rescues; thorough knowledge of the principles and techniques of lifeguarding and first aid; general knowledge
of aquatic area operations, including sanitation, maintenance, and safety; thorough knowledge of pool filtration and
chlorination systems; ability to deal courteously but firmly with pool patrons.
Must have current American Red Cross Lifeguarding, Standard First Aid, AED and CPR for the Professional Rescuer Certifications and Pool Operator’s License; some lifeguarding experience with knowledge of pool management; knowledge of pool filtration and chlorinating systems and procedures; ability to withstand exposure to direct sunlight, heat and humidity; successful completion of skills screening. |

Hours of work are flexable:
Morning Shift: 4:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Evening Shift: 3:00 to 10:00 p.m.
Candidate selected will be required to successfully complete alcohol and controlled substance tests at the County’s expense, and if candidate is eighteen (18) years of age or older, will be required to also successfully complete a criminal history and fingerprint check test at the County’s expense.
The following documents are required from re-hired or new employees prior to their start date:
• Two forms of identification showing proof of U.S. Citizenship or a Permanent Resident Card or Alien Registration Receipt Card (Form I-551). List of acceptable identification will be given to applicant prior to hiring.
• All employees are required to have direct deposit of their bi-weekly paychecks into a financial institution of their choice. Account information must be presented at time of hire. Account must have applicants name on it.
If applicant selects a checking account for direct deposit, a check from that account with the word “VOID” written across the face of the check must be remitted.
If applicant selects a savings or credit union account for direct deposit, a deposit slip with the imprinted applicants name, routing and account number on the deposit slip must be remitted. |
