BASIC FUNCTION:
Under the supervision of the Pest Control Supervisor, performs a variety of pest control duties for all buildings and properties as assigned for the eradication of pests for the Authority.

 Duties:

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:
E = Essential Functions

1.      Provides treatment for pests as appropriate for the control of insects, birds, rodents and animal pests in vacated and occupied residences, public buildings and on grounds. E

 2.      Provides treatment for pests which attack structural material, including fungus, termites, carpenter ants, carpenter bees and wood-boring beetles. E
 
3.      Makes reports of treatments to units, buildings and grounds as requested. E
 
4.      Instructs residents in the proper sanitation of their units to prevent pest infestation. E
 
5.      Participate in the development and implementation of goals, work plans, performance measures, and continuous improvement of service delivery to assist in attaining the unit/program/department initiatives and goals, agency core strategies, and mission through a spirit of service, teamwork and respect. Work well with other employees, follow direction, and work well under pressure. E
 
6.      Attend all required training and safety meetings; use, maintain and replace assigned personal protective equipment; report all injuries and illnesses to supervisor immediately; complete and submit incident/accident reports as required; report hazardous conditions or unsafe work practices to supervisor; and follow all safety and health guidelines, practices, policies and procedures. E
 
7.      Performs related duties as assigned.

 Minimum Qualifications:
EDUCATION:
 
High school diploma or equivalent education.
 
EXPERIENCE:
Three years work experience in pest control
treatment programs.
 
LISCENSING AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Must possess a valid Washington State
Driver's License and fully insurable driving
record.
Must possess and maintain a State of
Washington Public Operator's Pesticide
License for general and structural applications.
Union membership required within thirty days
of appointment to position.
 
FLSA Non-Exempt position covered by Trades Council. Union membership arrangements must be made within 30 days of employment.

KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
      KNOWLEDGE OF:
      1. Knowledge based on experience in pest control treatment programs in various types of housing units; knowledge of the control of insects, birds, rodents and animal pests in residences, public buildings and grounds.
      2. Knowledge of the control of those pests which attack structural material, including but not limited to fungus, termites, carpenter ants, carpenter bees and wood-boring beetles.
 
        ABILITY TO:
      1. Ability to plan, organize and exercise sound judgment and to follow oral and written instructions.
 
      2. Ability to work harmoniously with other employees, residents and the public.

Housing and community sites.
Occupied units.
Outdoor work in all types of weather.
Inspecting and treating in crawl spaces and basements.

            Hearing and speaking to exchange
            information in person and on the
            telephone.
            Seeing to read a variety of materials.
            Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate equipment.
            Bending at the waist, kneeling or crouching.
            Lifting and carrying materials/objects as assigned.
 
            HAZARDS:
            Work in unsanitary and infested units.
            Inclement weather.
            Working in confined spaces.
   Work with angry, hostile or abusive
   individuals.
