Under general supervision, the Airport Economic Development Specialist carries out projects, studies, or other work involving marketing activities, property management and lease administration, and air trade development of the Sacramento County Airport System.

  • Federal Aviation Administration and Department of Transportation rules and regulations pertaining to public airports

  • Verbal presentation and visual communication techniques necessary for conducting promotional programs

 Employment Standards:

Minimum Qualifications:

A Bachelor’s Degree or higher in the field of Airport Management, Business Administration, Public Administration, Economics, Finance, Communications, Marketing, or a closely related field.

And

One (1) year of experience in administrative, financial, economic analysis, or marketing position in the commercial aviation industry, retail property/tenant management, or commercial real property leasing or a closely related field. Such experience must be comparable in nature and level of difficulty to the duties of Airport Economic Development Specialist.

Note: Additional relevant full-time experience may be substituted for the Bachelor’s Degree on a year-for-year basis.

Special Requirements:

Background Check: Each candidate considered for appointment in this class must pass an employment history/access investigation and possibly a criminal history records check in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration Regulation 107, and Sacramento county Personnel Policies and Procedures B-5.

Probationary Period: The probationary period for this classification is six (6) months.

Testing Process

Minimum Qualifications – To be accepted into the testing process, the information submitted on the application must clearly demonstrate that the applicant meets the required minimum qualifications by the cut-off date. Applicants meeting the minimum qualifications by the final filing date will advance to the next testing phase – the Training & Experience Evaluation Exam.

Formula Rate (Training & Experience Evaluation) Exam – The evaluation of the candidate’s relevant experience, education and training, as shown in response to the Training & Experience Evaluation supplemental questions, weighted 100%. A panel of subject matter experts will only evaluate the responses to the Training & Experience Evaluation supplemental questions in this job announcement. All candidates successful in the testing process will be notified by mail of their score and ranking and placed on the eligible list in rank order. The rank is determined by the test score attained from the evaluation of the candidate’s responses to the Training & Experience Evaluation supplemental questionnaire.

Note: Responses to the Training & Experience Evaluation supplemental questionnaire must be submitted by 5:00 p.m. on the cut-off date in order to be evaluated.
