|
| Day Trippers is a supervised recreation program held at Horace Mann school during the Rock Island School District's fall, winter, and spring intersessions. Counselors prepare and lead activities such as sports, crafts, field trips, and group games. Counselors report directly to the Sports Recreation Manager and will communicate effectively with parents on a daily basis. |

Examples of Duties:
|
-Ability to express maturity in thought, work habits and responsibility.
-Current American Red Cross First Aid certification and Community CPR certification.
-Ability to work with other people and to work with youth of all ages and needs.
-To be responsible for a specific group of children. You are to stay with these children all day.
-To prepare weekly and daily schedules of activities and other required paperwork.
-To organize and conduct activities in games, aquatics, nature, crafts, sports and camping skills to participants in an outdoor based program.
-To encourage individuals to participate in group activities and to reach their needs through these activities.
-To plan and organize a total day camp program for the individual participant and for the unit, keeping in mind the needs of each individual camper.
-To provide a safe environment for campers.
-To act as a role model for young children.
-To perform related work as required by the Program Director. |

Typical Qualifications:
|
| Current American Red Cross First Aid certification and Community CPR certification. Must be college student or graduate with experience working with children and classwork in education and/or recreation management. |

Supplemental Information:
|
| Hours are 7AM-5:30PM, Monday through Friday. Each session lasts two weeks. Shifts are flexible. |
