Riverside County Regional Medical Center is searching for a CLINICAL NURSE SPECIALIST for the NICU dept. Successful candidates must possess three years of recent experience as a Clinical Nurse Specialist, a Masters of Science in Nursing from an accredited college or university, and maintain a current valid license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of California and a certificate authorizing practice as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in the State of California.

Our Level II Neonatal Intensive Care Unit provides a full range of neonatal care, including jet ventilation, savy ventilation, kangaroo care, and retrograde med administration. We have a dedicated neonatologist available 24 hours a day, with physician staff in-house. A (32) bed unit, we provide isolation rooms, and overnight room for parents and a mother's pumping room. With only a door to separate us from the OB-Section rooms, we are able to intervene quickly during complicated births. We attend all C-Sections and high-risk deliveries, and utilize our own neonatal transport team.

Examples Of Duties:
|
The Clinical Nurse Specialist - NICU will be responsible for:
• Directing the clinical nursing practice in the NICU
• Coordination and assessment of critical care educational development and clinical competency of the nursing staff in the NICU; and for ensuring continued critical care nursing competency through educational programs for both the newly-hired and experienced nursing staff.
• Oversight of comprehensive parent and or primary caretaker education activities
• Ensuring the implementation of a coordinated and effective discharge planning program
• Function as a clinical consultant using extensive clinical knowledge, background, and experience to identify and resolve complex or unique nursing care problems.
• Identify the need for modification of standardized policies and procedures and initiate collaboration with supervisory team; implement needed changes.
• Serve as a resource person in the clinical specialty to staff, management, community members, students within the health profession, and other hospitals; participate in community activities related to healthcare.
• Collaborate with the Nurse Manager in maintaining the clinical development and proficiency of the nursing staff; assess educational/training needs of staff; develop, implement and conduct nursing education programs designed specifically to meet the identified areas.
• Pursue continuing education to expand clinical knowledge and expertise. |

TO QUALIFY FOR THIS POSITION, YOU MUST SATISFY ALL THE BELOW REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION: Master's of Science in Nursing from an accredited college or university.
EXPERIENCE: Three years recent experience as a Clinical Nurse Specialist.
License/Certificate: Must possess and maintain a current valid license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of California and a certificate authorizing practice as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in the State of California. Must possess current PALS and BLS certicates. |
