Job Title: Water Systems Supervisor
Salary: $5,570.00 - $6,686.00 Monthly
Job Type: Full-time
Location: City Yard, 9633 Beverly Road, Pico Rivera, California
 

 
 
This position will supervise, assign and review the work of the Water Operations crew that are responsible for the maintenance, operation, and repair of the municipal water distribution system and provide supervisory staff assistance to the Public Works Superintendent.  Also serves on standby for off-hour emergencies.
 
Open until filled;  first review of applications will be July 16, 2009.  Written exercise and oral Interviews tentatively scheduled for week of July 20.
 

 Essential Duties:

The ideal candidate will have the ability to perform the following essential functions:

·         Organize, coordinate and schedule water system maintenance and repair work.

·         Supervise, train, and evaluate crewmembers and discuss work problems/issues that might lead to further counseling or disciplinary actions that require documentation.

·         Provide assistance to fellow maintenance supervisors as necessary.

·         Perform a variety of field supervision duties, including investigating and responding to customer complaints and inquiries.

·         Assist with the procurement of tools, materials and equipment for the water operations crew.

·        Respond and deploy Water Operations crewmembers to water-related emergencies, as required.

·         As assigned by the Public Works Superintendent, research and prepare any/all Water Operations data and work order status reports.

·         As assigned, represent the City at public meetings, workshops, and conferences.

·         Perform related duties as assigned.

 Qualifications:
 ·         A minimum of five years experience related to duties, including two years of supervisory, leadership and public contact experience.

·         A high school diploma or G.E.D. certificate.  A Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration or a related field is desired.

·         Current Treatment I (T-I) and Water Distribution III (D-III) certifications issued by the California State Department of Health.

·         An ability to set priorities, organize time, plan schedules, and coordinate multiple projects and deadlines.

·         Capability of exercising effective conflict resolution in adverse situations.

·         An ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, adapt to change, and exhibit strong customer service skills.

·         Proficiency in Microsoft Office and specialized software necessary to accomplish assignments.

 Licenses and Certifications:
  • Current Treatment I (T-I) and Water Distribution III (D-III) certifications issued by the California State Department of Health.
  • A valid Class C California Driver’s License throughout the course of employment.  Class B License is desired.
