Superior Court of California, County of Orange is now recruiting for COURT INTERPRETERS to work at any of our justice centers. These locations include Santa Ana, Orange, Fullerton, Westminster, Laguna Hills,  and Newport Beach. Court Interpreters provide essential public service and assist with non-English speaking parties that come to the Court. Become a valuable asset to the court system and join our team! This recruitment is seeking Spanish/English and Vietnamese/English interpreters. This recruitment is being used to build an eligible list and will be open on a continuous basis until the needs of the Court are met.
Example of Duties:
Interprets between English and the applicable non-English language using simultaneous and consecutive modes of interpretation Makes sight translations of documents for the courts Interprets for litigants, witnesses and other members of the public in court proceedings, such as: arraignments, trails, and hearings, at the direction of the court Researches and understands terminology used in court which may include but not limited to legal, technological, scientific, and/or medical terminology Reviews daily docket and receives daily calendar assignments from the Trial Court Interpreter Coordinator and accurately completes daily activity logs, or other documentation as required Performs other language interpretation duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
Possess and maintain a valid Certificate as a “Certified Court Interpreter” issued by the Judicial Council of California on behalf of the State of California -- OR -- registered as a Court Interpreter by the Judicial Council of California on behalf of the State of California. Possess a valid California driver’s license at the time of appointment or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions. The screening and selection process will consist of a qualifying evaluation of training and experience provided in the completed application materials. The more highly qualified applicants may be scheduled for an interview after being placed on the eligible list.
