MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS


Possession of a valid license as an Occupational Therapist issued by the California Board of Occupational Therapy. For the Occupational Therapist I classification, recent graduates may be hired with a non-renewable Occupational therapist Limited Permit. However, an Occupational Therapist Limited Permit is valid for no more than four months and an Occupational Therapist license must be obtained within the timelines established by the California Board of Occupational Therapy. Failure to obtain Licensure may result in immediate failure of probation.



Experience - Occupational Therapist I


None required beyond the requirements for Licensure or Limited Permit.


Experience - Occupational Therapist II


One year of supervised experience as an occupational therapist in a program for children with physical disabilities or two years in the area of physical disabilities.




THE PROGRAM/POSITION INFORMATION:


The California Children Services (CCS) Medical Therapy Program (MTP) provides medically necessary physical and occupational therapy services in Medical Therapy Units (MTU) located in public school settings. Occupational Therapists administer therapeutic evaluation and treatment for children from birth to 21 years of age who have neurological, neuromuscular, and/or complex orthopedic conditions. Therapists work closely with the children and their families to promote maximum function and development and in addition to providing treatment in a center based program, also provide consultation in the home and school settings. Occupational Therapists work collaboratively with other team members to assure that children and their families are provided with appropriate Durable Medical Equipment and training to maximize the child’s function. Opportunities may be in any one of the following twelve Medical Therapy Unit locations: Fullerton, Placentia, Anaheim (2 MTUs), Santa Ana, Irvine, Tustin, Dana Point, Westminister, Mission Viejo, Garden Grove, or Costa Mesa. Therapists are assigned to the unit where the vacancy occurs. Therapists work on a flexible 9/80 schedule, Monday through Thursday, nine hours per day, 8 hours every other Friday with the opposite Friday off. Positions can be full-time or part time. The County of Orange does not provide sponsorship for HB-1 applicants.


MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THE POSITION INCLUDE:


Provide occupational therapy evaluations and treatment to children with CCS MTP handicapping conditions in a clinic setting.
