WE ARE LOOKING FOR YOU IF YOU HAVE:A Master's degree from an ASPH or CEPH accredited college or university with specialization in epidemiology, biostatistics, or a closely related field and one year of experience in designing, conducting and interpreting epidemiological data.
OR
A bachelor's degree in a public health-related field and three years of experience in designing, conducting, and interpreting epidemiological data.
The ideal candidate will have thorough knowledge of public health/communicable disease epidemiology and surveillance and the use of descriptive and analytical statistical methods, specifically using SPSS and Microsoft Access. Experience in geographic information systems (GIS) software is helpful.
Current Position Available: One (1) position in Epidemiology & Assessment. This position is open on a continuous basis and may close at any time or as soon as the needs of the County are met.
The positions will support reportable communicable disease surveillance, investigation and reporting and will be a critical component of the Health Care Agency's response to pandemic H1N1 influenza. The positions are in the Epidemiology and Assessment Program within the Division of Disease Control and Epidemiology.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THE POSITION INCLUDE: - Design and participate in surveillance and epidemiological studies of communicable diseases, including pandemic influenza.
- Complete outbreak investigations.
- Review, monitor, and interpret local data to identify and describe disease trends.
- Participate in the development and operation of data systems for the monitoring of disease status and trends.
- Prepare written and oral presentations of epidemiologic findings and complex statistics in a concise and accurate manner.
- Perform statistical analysis on large data sets for surveillance and epidemiological studies utilizing computer programs such as SPSS/SAS/EpiInfo, MS Office software including Access, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Provide consultation with staff and the public on data and epidemiology issues.
- Establish and maintain corporative relationships with physicians, colleagues, and public health staff.
- Other duties as they arise.
