|
To perform a wide variety of assessment and taxation general and specialized office, technical, and customer service duties such as recording, indexing, researching, verifications, tax information services, cashiering, or assisting front counter, public research, and telephone callers. Duties involve multiple functions and cross training, research, complex property, assessment, and tax classifications, and may include Central Appraisal Support Team rotations, Call Center, Tax Collection Unit, recording, indexing, or other assignments.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS: This is the full journey level class within the A&T office series. Employees within this class are distinguished from the Office Assistant 1 by the performance of the full range of duties as assigned including duties requiring the application of general County procedures as well as application of A&T policies and procedures. Employees at this level may receive instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise, and apply operating procedures and policies. Positions in this class are flexibly staffed and may be filled by advancement from the "1" level, and requires prior specialized office and customer service problem solving experience. |

Examples of Duties:
|
Perform a variety of recording duties such as assisting customers on land records and recording processing, reviewing documents presented for recording to determine compliance with statutes and regulations, determining and receiving fees, and recording documents using recording and labeling system.
Index recorded documents, which includes duties such as reviewing recorded documents, determining from the recorded document all information to create the permanent record or index, and entering pertinent information to A&T data systems.
Maintain property accounts of floating property moorage and ownership records, real property deeds and records, personal property, mobile homes, or other property data; coordinate mailing and processing of property returns; prepare records for appraisers and generating sale confirmations; and doing research, verifications, and corrections.
Update the tax roll as changes occur, and identify, research, and complete verifications, Also review and correct real property appraisal records to assure data accuracy and performing duties such as reviewing real property characteristics records, verifying appraiser completions, sketches, and coding matches, or recertifying records following data entry.
Coordinate and provide customer phone and counter services that may include assisting in research room services, or providing general information about recording, assessment, taxes, marriage licenses, domestic partnership registration, as well as details on specifics.
Assist in coordinating and performing business operations duties such as printing tax bills for customers, processing mail and fax requests, mailing senior and disabled citizen deferral forms, filing and maintaining records and supporting documentation, pulling original documents for return to title companies, scanning and bundling documents, or stocking lobby and other areas.
Perform cash handling, cashiering, and payment processing duties such as processing property tax payments at the counter, receiving payments for marriage licenses, plat and subdivision payments, advanced tax estimates, manufactured home transfer fees, and securing and balancing cash drawers.
Operate office equipment and computers with multiple software systems. Equipment may include, for example, personal computers, calculators, copying machines, microfilm and microfiche readers, electronic cash registers, scanners, telephone and security controls.

Minimum Qualifications Required for Entry:
|
Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Training: Two years of general and specialized office experience with customer service and problem solving responsibilities or equivalent, AND
Experience: Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade. Additional specialized experience and/or training is desirable. |
