Welcome to Superior Court of California, County of Monterey's application process!

  1. To read the job announcement for a position, click on the position title. In the job announcement, you will find a link to APPLY for the position. When you click on the APPLY link, you will be prompted to log in to governmentjobs.com.

  2. If this is your first time to apply online using governmentjobs.com, you will be prompted to register. It's free and only takes a few minutes! All you need is your own unique email address. If you don't have an email account, you can sign up for free e-mail account with Hotmail, Yahoo! Mail, etc. Do not share your registered email OR governmentjobs.com account with anyone. 

  3. In the WORK EXPERIENCE section of the application form, give complete information for all jobs held during the past 10+ years, including verifiable voluntary experience. Show your present or most recent job first. You may attach your resume BUT resumes will not be accepted in lieu of completing the Work/Experience section. Failure to follow instructions may be grounds for rejecting your application.

  4. Most positions require that you submit responses to supplemental questions. You will be prompted to answer these questions once you have successfully completed the application section. Responses to the supplemental questions will be used in the selection process. Neatness, clarity of expression, grammar, spelling and ability to follow instructions will be considered in evaluating your responses. Resumes are not accepted in lieu of the responses.

  5. In responding to the supplemental questions, we suggest you first compose your responses on word processing software such as MS Word or WordPad so you can spell check and edit your responses with ease. Do not use HTML tags and bullets and if possible, save your document as a Rich Text file. When you are ready, just cut and paste your responses to the appropriate field.

  6. Remember to CONFIRM your application.  After confirming, you will be prompted to 'Certify and Submit' your application which then completes your submission.  You know your applicatoin went through successfully if you receive an email confirmation shortly after submission.

  7. Except where notes, online application materials are due at 5:00 PM on the final filing date.

  8. Finally, give yourself plenty of time to complete the application and supplemental questions. Remember, the application packet you submit will create a lasting impression on the selection committee!
