This position is open to the general public and any current Municipal employee. If the person selected is not affiliated with the Anchorage Municipal Employees Association (AMEA), he or she must become a member in good standing within 31 days of beginning work. DEPARTMENT: Economic & Community Development/Eagle River Parks & Recreation/Chugiak Pool HOURS OF WORK: Up to 35 hours per week. STARTING SALARY: Regular $12.17 per hour/Temporary and Seasonal $13.38 per hour. |

Example of Duties:
|
Provide supervision to ensure the safety of patrons in Municipal indoor swimming areas. Assist with providing for safe use of aquatic facility or area. Perform recreational duties for youth camp activities, cashiering, swim instruction, public etiquette, facility/ground maintenance, maintaining water quality standards, rescues, assists, first aid, CPR, and functions of the Emergency Action Management Plan. |

Minimum Qualifications / Substitutions / Special Qualifications:

Must possess the following valid certifications to apply: American Red Cross Lifeguard Training Certification; American Red Cross Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) for Professional Rescuers (in order to be considered copies of certifications {front & back} must be submitted). NOTICE All required certifications must remain current for the duration of employment. If selected for hire, appointment in this position will be conditional based upon satisfactory completion of a criminal background investigation (AS 12.62.160[10]). Accordingly it will be necessary for the selected applicant to provide certain identification information and be fingerprinted. Fingerprint cards must be dated within 30 days from date requested. The processing fee of $54.25 plus the cost of being fingerprinted (variable), is the responsibility of the selected applicant. Seasonal employees accrue seasonal leave at a maximum rate of 3.08 hours per pay period, exclusive of overtime and prorated on actual hours worked, based on an 80-hour pay period. Unused seasonal leave is cashable at 75% redemption rate at the termination of seasonal employment. Accrued seasonal leave expires with the termination of seasonal employment and cannot be carried forward into another employment period.
