Job Title: Family Consumer Science (Consumer Studies), Assistant Professor (PRF #10049)

  • Working with faculty and staff to build a new undergraduate major option in Consumer Studies within the Department of Family Consumer Science.
  • Teaching primarily undergraduate and graduate courses in Consumer Studies. Position may have some teaching responsibilities in the Family Life and Child Development area.
  • Contributing to student growth and development, including advising and mentoring.
  • Participating in service to department, college, university, and community.
  • Continuing professional development.
  • Conducting scholarly activity.

 Minimum Qualifications:
  • Earned doctorate in Consumer Studies, Family Financial Management, or closely related area. (ABD will be considered if able to document that degree will be completed by August 2012.)
  • Demonstrated teaching excellence.
  • Experience or involvement with the development of an active scholarly agenda, including publications in refereed journals.
  • Experience with advising and mentoring students.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach using technology in the classroom and online course delivery.
  • Evidence of department, college, university, and/or community service.
  • Commitment to continued professional development.

 Other Considerations:
  • Evidence of successful teaching experience at the college/university level.
  • Evidence of active participation in professional association(s).
  • At least one undergraduate or master's degree in Family Consumer Science.
  • Evidence of collaborative ability and effective communication skills.
  • A demonstrated commitment to working with a diverse student, faculty, and staff population.
