KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work involves working inside an office with rotating shifts that include working on weekends, working closely with others, and traveling by car. Work requires standing, sitting, climbing stairs, walking, light carrying under 15 pounds and light lifting under 24 pounds. Ability to operate office equipment and a motor vehicle, see, write, count, read, identify shades of colors, and hearing is required to perform the essential functions.

Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma or G.E.D.
-AND-
Six (6) months of experience in related field or any combination of training and experience, which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
MUST TYPE 30 WORDS PER MINUTE*
A City of Laredo typing test must be scheduled, taken, passed, and submitted within three (3) business days from the date/time you submit your application to the Human Resources Dept. (maximum of two (2) typing test appointments per position applied for).
If you are not able to schedule, take, pass, and submit the required typing test within the required deadline, your application will be considered incomplete. Valid Licenses and Certifications:

80 Hour 911 Basic Certification is required.*
16 Hour TCIC/NCIC Certification is required.*
4 Hour TDD/TTY Certification is required.*
CPR/First Aid Standard Certifications is required.*
Adult, Child, & Infant CPR Certification is required.*

Valid Texas Driver License**
**If applicant holds an out-of-state license, a State of Texas Driver's License must be obtained prior to employment.
As part of the minimum requirements for all positions with the City of Laredo, a thorough background check and certified school transcripts will be required from all applicants who are offered employment.
Effective February 24, 1997, all selected applicants are required to undergo a drug and alcohol test prior to employment.
Effective January 7, 2008, all persons in safety-sensitive functions/positions, as per City of Laredo Drug and Alcohol Policy definition, shall be subject to random drug and alcohol testing.
