This is a position of high responsibility under the general administrative direction of the City Manager; Plans, directs, coordinates and monitors the administration of all parks, plazas, park developments, and park maintenance throughout the City of Laredo including recreational programs and facility development; Plans, directs, coordinates and monitors the administration of the Laredo Public Libraries; plans and develops departmental budgets, goals and objectives to ensure compliance of the same. |

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work is performed inside an office and outside working closely with others and alone, with light traveling by car, van, bus, or plane; with exposure to heat, constant noise, cold inclement weather, solvents, dirt, and dust. Work involves working extended workdays outside the regular working hours. Work requires working in slippery surfaces, with moving machines and moving objects, repeated bending, operating mechanical equipment, crouching, standing sitting, kneeling, pushing, stooping, climbing stairs, climbing ladders, walking, light carrying under 15 pounds, occasional lifting from 25 to 50 pounds. Ability to operate office equipment, see, write, count, read, identify shade of colors, and hear needed to perform essential functions.

Minimum Qualifications:
|
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Business Administration, Recreation Administration, Leisure Services, Public Administration or related field.
-AND-
At least five (5) years of progressively responsible related work experience with at least three (3) years in a managerial capacity. |

Valid Licenses and Certifications:

Valid Texas Drivers License*
*If applicant holds an out-of-state license, a State of Texas Driver's License must be obtained prior to employment.
As part of the minimum requirements for all positions with the City of Laredo, a thorough background check and certified school transcripts will be required from all applicants who are offered employment.
Effective February 24, 1997, all selected applicants are required to undergo a drug and alcohol test prior to employment.
