Eligible lists may be used for temporary and permanent vacancies for the class of work during the life of the eligible list. Temporary appointments may lead to conversion to permanent employment.

 Duties Summary:
Installs, maintains and repairs electrical wiring systems, equipment and appurtenant fixtures; and performs other related duties as required.

 Minimum Qualification Requirements:
Minimum Qualification Requirements for the Class:

Training and Experience: A combination of education and experience substantially equivalent to completion of the eighth grade and four years of experience as a helper under the journeyworker electrician or successful completion of apprenticeship training.

License Requirement:
1. Possession of a journeyworker electrician’s license.

Knowledge of: the theory of electricity; practices, tools, equipment and materials used in the electrical trade; installation, maintenance and repair of electrical equipment, apparatus and instruments, laws, rules and standards pertaining to electrical construction and maintenance; hazards involved in working around energized lines and equipment.

Ability to: read and interpret blueprints, electrical plans and diagrams of electrical circuits; plan electrical wiring installation; install, maintain and repair electrical systems and equipment; estimate material requirements; understand and follow oral and written instructions.

Health and Physical Condition Requirements:

Persons seeking appointment to positions in this class must meet the health and physical condition standards deemed necessary and proper for performance of the duties.

1. Evidence of a journey worker electrician's license.

NOTE: Copy of your license must be submitted in order to be given credit. Copies will not be returned. Mail or drop off: Department of Personnel Services, 4444 Rice Street, Suite 140, Lihue, HI 96766 within 7 calendar days from filing this application. Office hours are Monday thru Friday (except holidays) from 7:45 am to 4:30 pm.

Examination:
