Duties Summary:

| Performs difficult professional engineering work in the design, construction, maintenance and operation of civil engineering projects; prepares designs, plans, specifications, estimates and reports; and performs other duties as required. |

Minimum Qualification Requirements:

Minimum Qualification Requirements for the Class: Training and Experience: Graduation from an accredited college or university with major work in civil engineering and three years of professional civil engineering experience; or any equivalent combination of experience and training. License Required: Possession of a certificate of registration as a professional engineer in the State of Hawaii. Knowledge of: civil engineering principles and practices; engineering mathematics; engineering mechanics and the mechanics of materials; hydraulic, hydrologic, structural, mechanical, electrical and sanitary engineering principles and practices to the extent that these apply to the general field of civil engineering. Ability to: do civil engineering design work or supervise construction and inspection activities; analyze stresses and determine the required foundations and structural features; supervise a small group of subordinate professional or subprofessional employees; prepare engineering and inspection reports. Health and Physical Condition: Persons seeking appointment to positions in this class must meet the health and physical condition standards deemed necessary and proper for performance of the duties. |

A legible photo copy will be accepted; however, DPS reserves the right to request an official copy. 2. Evidence of registration as a professional engineer in the State of Hawaii. NOTE: Copies of your degree or transcript and Engineer registration must be submitted in order to be given credit. Copies will not be returned. Office hours are Monday thru Friday (except holidays) from 7:45 am to 4:30 pm. Examination: The examination will consist of a training and experience evaluation based on the applicant's education and experience as presented in the application. Be certain to list all pertinent training and experience, as this may be important in determining your examination score.
