| Employee assists Signal Technician II in the installation and maintenance of traffic signals and related equipment. Assembles and installs traffic detectors, signal heads, controllers, amplifiers, relays, and associated aerial and underground wiring; tests and adjusts electronic circuitry and other components; cleans and lubricates controller mechanisms; checks relays, replaces bulbs and signal lenses. Operates hydraulic-electric aerial boom, aerial platform truck, hi-cube van, and pick-up truck; and may be required to pull utility type trailers. |

Minimum Qualifications For Admission to Examination:

Possession of a high school diploma or equivalency certificate; plus either A or B A. Successful completion of one basic electrical/electronics course from a recognized college or vocational/trade school; plus, one year of full time paid work experience in the field of electronics. B. Successful completion of an electrical/electronics curriculum from a recognized college or vocational/trade school. SUBSTITUTION: Two (2) years of work experience as a Sign Technician II in Traffic Engineering can substitute for the work experience described in "A" above. Possession of a current Louisiana class D (chauffer's ) or commercial driver's license (CDL)* and an acceptable driving record are also required. NOTE: A valid class D or commercial driver's license issued by a state other than Louisiana are acceptable for application; however, once an employment offer is extended, an applicant has ten (10) days to obtain the required Louisiana license. Failure to obtain a Louisiana license will disqualify an applicant for permanent employment in this position. |
