| Under general supervision, performs professional work involving liaison services between the Department of Juvenile Services and private employers to solicit job opportunities for rehabilitated juvenile offenders. Employee participates in the assessment process of juveniles being referred to the Correctional Options Program, screens juvenile offenders to determine employment suitability, and develops and implements vocational assistant training. Employee facilitates cognitive behavioral group skills training, prepares and submits written reports to case managers, attends weekly staff meetings, maintains monthly statistical data tracking, and performs other related duties as required. |

Minimum Qualifications For Admission to Examination:
|
Possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in sociology, psychology, personnel management, counseling, education, mental health, substance abuse counseling or a related field; plus at least one (1) year of responsible work experience indicating familiarity with employment problems, counseling techniques, and client interviewing. SUBSTITUTION: A Master's degree in social work, guidance counseling, education or closely related field may substitute for the required experience. Additional qualifying experience may substitute for college training on a year for year basis. All candidates must be high school graduates and possess some acceptable combination of experience and/or training totaling five (5) years. Proof of education is required. Candidates must also have a current Louisiana driver's license* and acceptable driving record. *NOTE: A valid driver's license issued by a state other than Louisiana is acceptable for application; however, once an employment offer is extended, an applicant has ten (10) days to obtain the required Louisiana license. Failure to obtain a Louisiana license will disqualify an applicant for permanent employment in this position. |
