Job Title: TELEMETRY TECHNICIAN II (2451)

EXAMINATION IS ANNOUNCED TO ESTABLISH AN EMPLOYMENT LIST TO FILL ONE (1) CURRENT EAST JEFFERSON VACANCY IN THE DEPARTMENT OF ENGINEERING AND FUTURE VACANCIES AS THE OCCUR.

 Kind of Work:

Under the supervision of the Telemetry Technician III, performs skilled, supervisory electrical and instrumentation work in the installation, repair, maintenance, troubleshooting, and the calibration of the components of the Parish Telemetry system; works in high voltage (480 volts and above) electrical panels tied to telemetry equipment to make repairs. Performs related work as required.

 Minimum Qualifications For Admission to Examination:
Possession of a current Class C or higher Jefferson Parish Electrical License
AND
Permanent civil service status in the class of Telemetry Technician I, and at least one full year of work experience at the I level.
OR
At least one (1) year of full-time, verifiable work experience working in instrumentation and controls in industrial or commercial electrical construction work; including journeyman level work experience in the repair and maintenance of high voltage (at least 480) electrical apparatus and the maintenance, repair, and calibration of complex electrical and pneumatic and electronic monitoring, measuring, and recording devices.

A current Louisiana "Class B" Commercial Driver's License (CDL)* and an acceptable driving record are also required.

* NOTE: A valid "Class B" CDL issued by a state other than Louisiana is acceptable for application; however, once an employment offer is extended, an applicant will have ten (10) days to obtain the required Louisiana license. Failure to obtain the required Louisiana license will disqualify an applicant from permanent employment in this position.

 Kind of Examination:
(ENTRANCE AND PROMOTIONAL)

The examination may consist of a written test, a rating of training and experience, an oral panel interview or any combination thereof. Acceptable candidates will be notified of the time, date, and place of any assembled test(s).

Applicants must supply complete and accurate information concerning their training and experience including a detailed description of their work experience, the names and addresses of all previous employers, the dates of employment, and the duties and responsibilities of past positions. The Personnel Department reserves the right to determine the quality and quantity of education and experience claimed for credit.
