Reporting Location: 16930 John F. Kennedy Blvd. (subject to change)
Workdays & Hours: Varied, normally M-F (subject to change)
Manages consultant contracts for complex and varied design projects. Directs and monitors consultants regarding project scope, schedule, budget, development of design and construction documents, bidding, bid evaluation, construction contract preparation, and technical support during construction. Provides technical input from electrical engineering perspective. Coordinates with airport management personnel, tenants, citizens, other City Of Houston officials and outside agencies to coordinate project elements and requirements. Responds to inquiries for information on previous and current projects and procedures. Interprets code, tenant and public requirements for projects. Reviews construction documents and construction requirements to identify unforeseen conditions and limit change directives and scope additions. Reviews airport tenant projects, assuring compliance with Houston Airport System standards and operational requirements. Represents the Houston Airport System and Planning, Design and Construction at meetings and conferences. Contributes to the development of Houston Airport System capital improvement program by providing electrical engineering expertise with regard to project requirements and long-range considerations.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Performing these duties will involve: being available by cellular phone; attending meetings; visually observing and differentiating details; making quantitative computations; preparing written reports; operating a city vehicle; analyzing abstract information; working with minimal supervision; dealing with people in tense situations; responding to emergencies; standing and walking for extended periods; exposure to significant levels of heat, cold, moisture, air pollution and airport noise. May be required to lift up to thirty (30) pounds. Must be willing and available to conduct or attend some evening meetings. Must be willing and available to work all shifts, including rotation, weekends and holidays. Must be able to obtain and maintain security clearances. |

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
|
MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a closely related field.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Six (6) years experience in Electrical Engineering in design and construction.
MINIMUM LICENSE REQUIREMENTS
Valid Class C Texas driver’s license and compliance with city’s policy on driving (AP 2-2). Registration as a Professional Engineer. |

PREFERENCES:
|
| Experience related to design and construction of airport facilities, terminals, hangars, parking structures, large central plants, airfield lighting, power generation and distribution, and coordination with major power provider. Proven ability to communicate effectively and professionally with other professionals, co-workers, airport staff, tenant personnel, consultants, contractors, representatives of other City departments and the general public. |
