This posting is for the State of Hawaii, Department of Land and Natural Resources, State Historic Preservation Division.

The position is located on the Island of Oahu.

DUTIES SUMMARY

This position will maintain the state’s Register of Historic Sites and support economic development through the coordination of heritage corridors and rehabilitation.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Citizenship Requirement: Applicants must be citizens, permanent resident aliens, or nationals of the United States. Non-citizens with unrestricted employment authorization from the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service may also apply.

Required Licenses: A valid State of Hawaii driver’s license is necessary to carry out the functions of this position.

Education Requirement: Graduation from an accredited four (4) year college or university with a bachelor’s degree with a major in architecture, architecture history, historic preservation, or closely related field.

Experience Requirement: Four (4) years of full-time professional experience applying the theories, methods, and practices of Architectural History that enables professional judgments to be made about the identification, evaluation, documentation, registration, or treatment of historic properties in the United States and its Territories; and products and activities that demonstrate the successful application of acquired proficiencies in the discipline to the practice of historic preservation.

Substitution of Education for Experience: Possession of a master’s degree from an accredited university in Architecture History or closely related field may substitute for two (2) years of experience.

This position is exempt from civil service. Therefore, if you are appointed to the position, your employment will be considered to be “at will.”
