| Applicants must meet all the requirements for the position they are seeking as of the date of the application, unless otherwise specified. Please note that unless specifically indicated, the required education and experience may not be gained concurrently. Your possession of the required amount of experience will not in itself be accepted as proof of qualification for the position. Overall paid or unpaid experience must be of such scope and responsibility as to conclusively demonstrate that you have the ability to perform the duties of the position. Note: Your calculation of experience must be based on full-time, 40-hour work weeks. Part-time experience must be pro-rated. Example: Twelve months of experience at 20 hours/week is equivalent to six months of experience, not one year. Also, hours worked in excess of 40 hours/week will not be credited. Example: Twelve months of experience at 60 hours/week is equivalent to one year of experience, not one and a half years.
To qualify, you must meet all of the following requirements. Education: Applicants must have successfully completed the requirements in a or b below. To be credited, the focus and content of the course must have been substantively devoted to the subject area. a. A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in economics or business administration which included at least 21 semester hours in economics plus 3 semester hours in statistics, accounting or calculus. b. Courses in an accredited college or university consisting of 21 semester hours in economics and 3 semester hours in statistics, accounting or calculus; plus additional appropriate experience or education which, when combined with the specified coursework, will total four years of education and experience, and which has given the applicant a technical and professional knowledge comparable to that which would have been acquired through the successful completion of the four-year college course described in a above. The experience should include evidence of professional economics work in research, investigation, interpretation, operation or analysis which requires an intimate working knowledge of the principles and theories of economics and their practical application. Professional Experience: Five years of professional experience which demonstrated a thorough understanding of economic principles and theories and a wide knowledge of current economic factors and their implications. Such experience must clearly demonstrate either: 1) the applicant’s ability to organize, direct and coordinate complicated and important economic research programs; or 2) the applicant's marked technical competence in economic research including the development of new methods of economic analysis, or new economic knowledge of value to Government officials responsible for important decisions on economic programs or services. Substitutions Allowed: a. A Master’s degree in economics or business administration with emphasis in economics may be substituted for one year of Professional Experience. b. Each full year of graduate study with courses aggregating at least 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours creditable towards meeting the requirements of an advanced degree in economics, or business administration with emphasis in economics may be substituted for Professional Experience on a year-for-year basis up to a total of two years. c. A Ph.D. degree in economics or business administration with emphasis in economics, including the thesis, may be substituted for three years of Professional Experience. 02833:090282:13:NC |
