 Duties Summary:
Serve as documents and hearings clerk, and provide secretarial and office clerical services, for a quasi-judicial commission; supervise other clerical support staff; and perform other related duties as assigned.

 Minimum Qualification Requirements:
Applicants must meet all the requirements for the position they are seeking as of the date of the application, unless otherwise specified. Please note that unless specifically indicated, the required education and experience may not be gained concurrently. Your possession of the required amount of experience will not in itself be accepted as proof of qualification for the position. Overall paid or unpaid experience must be of such scope and responsibility as to conclusively demonstrate that you have the ability to perform the duties of the position. Note: Your calculation of experience must be based on full-time, 40-hour work weeks. Part-time experience must be pro-rated. Example: Twelve months of experience at 20 hours/week is equivalent to six months of experience, not one year. Also, hours worked in excess of 40 hours/week will not be credited. Example: Twelve months of experience at 60 hours/week is equivalent to one year of experience, not one and a half years.

To qualify, you must meet all of the following requirements:

Education: Graduation from high school.

Excess experience of the type and quality described below, or other work experience requiring the ability to read, comprehend, and apply written directions or a high degree of verbal skills may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis.

Stenographic Experience: Three years of experience in taking and transcribing dictation and typing letters, forms, documents, etc.

Specialized Experience: Three years of responsible clerical/stenographic experience dealing with appeals or adjudication hearings or other appellate proceedings, or work dealing with the preparation of legal forms or documents.
The experience must demonstrate that the applicant possesses supervisory aptitude. Supervisory aptitude is the demonstration of aptitude or potential for the performance of supervisory duties through successful completion of regular or special assignments which involved some supervisory responsibilities or aspects; by serving as a group or team leader; or in similar work in which opportunities for demonstrating supervisory capabilities exist; by completion of training courses in supervision accompanied by application of supervisory skills in works assignments; or by favorable appraisals by a supervisor indicating the possession of supervisory potential.

Substitution Allowed: Successful completion of stenographic training at an accredited business or technical school above the high school level may be substituted for one year of the Stenographic Experience.
