| Duties Summary: | |
| Examine land titles by searching public records, examining legal documents, and summarizing and recording pertinent information from these documents that are essential to determining ownership and condition of title to land subject to acquisition by the State; prepare worksheets showing the history of the title and all encumbrances, restrictions and covenants affecting the titles; review land transaction documents for purposes of indexing information reflecting changes in land ownership or land titles; and perform other related duties as assigned. | |

| Applicants must meet all the requirements for the position they are seeking as of the date of the application, unless otherwise specified. Please note that unless specifically indicated, the required education and experience may not be gained concurrently. Your possession of the required amount of experience will not in itself be accepted as proof of qualification for the position. Overall paid or unpaid experience must be of such scope and responsibility as to conclusively demonstrate that you have the ability to perform the duties of the position. Note: Your calculation of experience must be based on full-time, 40-hour work weeks. Part-time experience must be pro-rated. Example: Twelve months of experience at 20 hours/week is equivalent to six months of experience, not one year. Also, hours worked in excess of 40 hours/week will not be credited. Example: Twelve months of experience at 60 hours/week is equivalent to one year of experience, not one and a half years.
To qualify, you must meet all of the following requirements: Education: Graduation from high school. Excess experience of the type described below or work experience requiring the ability to read and comprehend and apply written directions or a high degree of verbal skill may be substituted for Education on a year-for-year basis. General Experience: Three years of progressively responsible work experience involving one or a combination of the following: 1) preparing; 2) reviewing; or 3) extracting information from legal documents and/or records dealing with real property ownership or transactions. Specialized Experience: Two years of progressively responsible work experience involved in the examining and analyzing of real property ownership records and documents to determine and evidence title to real property. Substitutions Allowed: a. Completion of a legal secretarial curriculum at a recognized business school or a community college may be substituted for one year of General Experience. b. A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with course work in business law may be substituted for two years of General Experience. 01670:062582:03:NC |
