This is entry-level into the deputy clerk series. Incumbents perform routine support activities requiring general office knowledge. Incumbents perform duties necessary in providing assistance to the public, in ensuring the correct forms and paper work are provided, and performing routine clerical support activities in support of the courts. ***This job entails fiduciary responsibility and will require a credit check.*** The Grade/DBM for this position is A131. |

Essential Duties:
|
• Receives, processes, and maintains a variety of court-related documents in assigned area of responsibility. Reviews documents to determine if meet proper criteria and explain court documents. • Maintains case file information, which may include: determining general case categories; making docket entries; assigning case numbers; data entering case file and/or other related information into the computer; and/or, performing other related activities. • Performs routine clerical duties, which may include: making copies, answering phones, taking messages, faxing paperwork, filing, notarizing documents, processing mail, maintaining court calendars, microfilming/scanning files, and/or performing other related activities. • Responds to requests for information from the public, attorneys, law enforcement, and/or other interested parties regarding basic court information. • Conducts basic research on warrants, criminal histories, and/or other related information. • Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.

Education/Experience, Licenses, Knowledge and Skills, Physical Requirements:
|
Education/Experience: • High School Diploma, or G.E.D. • One year of general office experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above • Incumbents must be 21. Must possess above average data entry and typing skills. Department will administer skills test to determine final eligibility Knowledge & Skills: • Customer service principles • Office procedures, methods, and equipment • Data entry and typing techniques • Providing customer service • Operating computers and applicable software • Filing and maintaining records • Using standard office equipment • Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction Physical Requirements: Manual dexterity, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions. Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met. Incumbents may be subjected to work space restrictions, intense noise, disruptive people, imminent danger, threatening environment, and travel. ^* |
