| APPLICATION FOR THIS POSTION WILL REMAIN OPEN ON AN ONGOING BASIS AND APPLICANTS CONTACTED AS NEEDED Primary function of the job is to routinely enforce swimming regulations at a public pool, within established policies and procedures. Manual labor is required to carry out the responsibilities of this position. Regular communication with other employees and the public is essential. Hours may include weekends, evenings, and holidays. |

| Examples of Duties: | |
| (May include but not limited to the following) • Observes and supervises swimmers • Enforces water safety rules and regulations • Rescues persons in distress, administers first aid, assists in maintaining life saving equipment • Assists in cleaning and maintaining pool, keeping pool deck, locker rooms and adjoining areas clean and acceptable for periodic inspections and checks pool and surrounding area for potential hazards • Answers inquiries and provides information pertaining to the pool, its facilities, schedules and programs, collects money and staffs office as required • Assists in swimming instruction classes |

| Typical Qualifications: | |
| • Possession of a Lifeguard Certificate and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Certificate and First Aid issued by the American Red Cross, or equivalent national agency, with the ability to test out • Experience and training that would provide the knowledge, ability and skills to meet the responsibilities listed |
