|
| Performs variety of skilled and semi-skilled duties in the repair and maintenance of heating, air conditioning, plumbing, and electrical systems associated with the County buildings; water and sewer treatment and distribution systems. |
|
Essential Functions:
|
1. Maintains the heating and air-conditioning, boilers, plumbing, and electrical systems; troubleshoots, diagnoses and repairs problems.
2. Installs equipment such as fuel and water supply lines, air ducts and vents, pumps, condensers, blowers, motors and other parts of the mechanical systems.
3. Performs preventive maintenance (including filter replacement) and routine inspections including adjustment of system controls, burners and blowers, leak checks, and overall performance testing.
4. Monitors and inspects contract work/projects relating to the systems to ensure compliance with contractual agreement.
5. Prioritizes, schedules, and completes work orders.
6. Monitors contract work.
7. Maintains records of work performed to include safety inspections, parts and materials used/ordered, equipment failures and repairs, and logs of temperature, pressures, voltages, and combustion efficiency.
Non-Essential Functions
1. Orders necessary parts and supplies.
Skills, Abilities & Other Requirements
1. Operates a variety of machinery, equipment, meters, and tools as required to perform job.
2. Reads and interprets drawings, blue prints, wiring diagrams and schematics.
3. Maintains a comprehensive, current knowledge of applicable laws/regulations.
4. Good communication skills.
5. Performs related facilities and grounds maintenance duties as required. |

Minimum Qualifications:
|
| High school diploma or equivalent supplemented by one to two (1-2) years of specialized training in heating and air-conditioning systems, electrical systems, plumbing or maintenance; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. |

Must possess and maintain a valid Virginia driver’s license.
Must possess and maintain an HVAC license through the Virginia Department of Professional Occupation and Regulation or pursue and obtain said license within specified time period.
Working Conditions
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. Continuous lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling and other strenuous activity. May risk exposure to machinery, weather, extremes, dust, fumes, dirt vibrations, electric currents, traffic hazards, toxic agents, disease or pathogenic substances. |
