The Contra Costa County Health Services Department is seeking Registered Nurses to fill permanent full-time, permanent part-time and per diem Advice Nurse positions. Advice Nurses are stationed in the telephone triage unit of the Contra Costa Health Plan, located in Martinez, California. Via the telephone, Advice Nurses assess the needs of over 120,000 patients, including members of the Contra Costa Health Plan, patients from contracting counties, and all users of the County ambulatory care services. Duties also include documenting telephone calls and making referrals. Advice Nurses will report to the Contra Costa Health Plan’s Telephone Triage Manager. The Contra Costa Health Plan is the County’s federally qualified Health Maintenance Organization. Eligible candidates who successfully pass the County language fluency examination may receive a monthly differential depending upon assignment. |

| Minimum Qualifications: | |
| License: Possession of a Valid license as a Registered Nurse in the State of California.
Experience: Two (2) years of full-time experience (or the equivalent of full-time experience) as a telephone triage Registered Nurse or as a Registered Nurse in a medical surgical unit, pediatric unit, or in the emergency department of an acute care hospital. OTHER REQUIREMENTS 1) Must successfully pass a pharmacology exam administered by the Contra Costa Health Services Department, 2) Must be able to type at a speed of 30 words per minute. | 1. 2. Examination (Weighted 100%): The examination will consist of an evaluation of each candidate’s relevant education, training and/or experience as presented on the application and supplemental questionnaire. Candidates will receive a rating of 70 for meeting the minimum qualifications. The names of candidates will be placed on an employment list in rank order for a period of six (6) months. The Human Resources Department may make changes to the examinations steps noted above in accordance with Personnel Management Regulations and accepted selection practices.
