Contra Costa County Health Services Department is recruiting individuals on a continuous basis to fill entry level Physical Therapist positions. Therapists may be assigned to the Contra Costa Regional Medical Center in Martinez, the George Miller Centers in Richmond and Concord, or the California Children Services Programs located throughout the County.

Physical Therapist I is an entry level classification requiring no experience. Employees in this class perform a full range of general therapy treatments while developing and learning the skills and knowledge necessary to apply more advanced and/or specialized treatments.

 Minimum Qualifications:
License Required: Either 1) possession of a valid license as a Physical Therapist issued by the Board of Medical Examiners of the State of California; or 2) graduation from an approved school of physical therapy and acceptance of an application to take the State of California Physical Therapy Licensing examination. Continued employment in this class under the latter requirement is dependent upon successfully passing the licensing examination.

Experience: None Required.

Other Requirements: Prior to employment, a background investigations will be conducted. Fingerprints will be taken.

2. Examination: The examination for each class will consist of an evaluation of each candidate's relevant education, training and/or experience as presented on the application and the supplemental questionnaire. Candidates will receive a rating of 70% for meeting the minimum qualifications. Additional points will be awarded to those candidates who possess related education, training and/or experience beyond the minimum qualifications. The names of successful candidates will be placed on an employment list in rank order for a period of six (6) months. (Weighted 100%)
