| The Contra Costa County Health Services Department is accepting applications on an ongoing basis to fill experienced Cytotechnologist positions as they arise. Positions in this classification are located at the Contra Costa County Regional Medical Center in Martinez, California.
Cytotechnologists spend the majority of time screening stained gynecological and non-gynecological slides under a microscope and interpreting and recording the results under the supervision of Pathologists. They are responsible for receiving specimen material and slides from wards and clinics and entering information in laboratory records. Other duties include, but are not limited to: investigating and recommending modification of current procedural techniques or the establishment of new techniques; ordering supplies and equipment; and meeting with hospital staff and physicians to assist in cytology services. |

| Minimum Qualifications: | |
| License Required: A valid license as a Cytotechnologist issued by the State of California Department of Health
Experience: Two (2) years of full-time experience or its equivalent in a clinical laboratory performing cytological tests and analyses. Other Requirements: Prior to employment, a background investigation will be conducted. Fingerprints will be taken. |

2. Examination: The examination will consist of an evaluation of each candidate's relevant education, training and/or experience as presented on the application and the supplemental questionnaire. Candidates will receive a rating of 70 for meeting the minimum qualifications. Additional points will be awarded to those candidates who possess related education, training, and/or experience beyond the minimum qualifications. The names of candidates will be placed on an employment list in rank order for a period of six (6) months. (Weighted 100%) The Human Resources Department may change the examination steps noted above in accordance with Personnel Management Regulations and accepted selection practices.
