| The Contra Costa County Health Services Department is accepting applications on an ongoing basis to fill experienced level Clinical Laboratory Scientist positions which may be assigned to the Contra Costa Regional Medical Center in Martinez or health centers located in Richmond or Pittsburg.
Clinical Laboratory Scientist II is a journey level classification. Employees perform a variety of professional clinical laboratory procedures and are responsible for the technical accuracy of bacteriological, hematological, biochemical, serological, coagulation and transfusion tests. They also evaluate the validity of test data, maintain quality controls, and assist in the training and development of less experienced scientists and technicians. |

| Minimum Qualifications: | |
| License Required: Possession of a valid license as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist issued by the California State Department of Health Services is required.
Experience: One (1) year of full time (or the equivalent) experience as a licensed Scientist in a clinical laboratory performing varied clinical tests and analyses. Other Requirements: Prior to employment, a background investigation will be conducted. Fingerprints will be taken. |

2. Examination: The examination will consist of an evaluation of each candidate's relevant education, training and/or experience as presented on the application and supplemental questionnaire. Candidates will receive a rating of 70 for meeting the minimum qualifications. Additional points will be awarded to those candidates who possess related education, training and/or experience beyond the minimum qualifications. The names of successful candidates will be placed on an employment list in rank order for a period of six (6) months. (Weighted 100%) The Human Resources Department may make changes to the examination steps noted above in accordance with Personnel Management Regulations and accepted selection practices.
