| Weighs inbound and outbound trucks at the County's landfill scalehouse and recycle centers and inspects loads for potential hazards. Identifies all material types and ensures that the load is brought to the proper location/locations within the landfill for recycling, burial, or diversion. Collects landfill and recycle center tipping fees in accordance with department procedures and maintains a chain of custody for monies to be deposited daily. Provides customer service and operates a personal computer and other equipment necessary to complete essential functions. Provides weekly, monthly, and annual reports, as needed, and scheduled. |
| High School diploma or GED; supplemented by vocational/technical degree with training emphasis in landfill operations; supplemented by one or two years previous experience with customer service and/or training that includes landfill operations; solid waste operations; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Must possess and maintain valid certification for Waste Screening and Identification for Landfill Operators and Spotters, Safety Certifications including Hazwopper, or the ability to obtain within one (1) year from date of hire. Must obtain technical certifications through SWANA and/or TREEO, or other Southwest Organization. Must be able to work Saturdays. Fingerprinting is required. |
