|
| This single-incumbent class manages a variety of capital improvement construction projects, ensuring a low change-order and time extension rate and the avoidance of construction claims. The incumbent plans, schedules and directs the work of construction inspection staff in both capital improvement and development construction projects and supervises and directs the work of the City's survey party performing land surveys for a variety of purposes. The work requires strong construction management competencies to ensure projects are completed in accordance with contract specifications and accepted standards, as well as a detailed understanding of the professional principles, practices and equipment/software used in performing field survey. |

Examples of Duties:
|
| Under general direction, plans, organizes, integrates, evaluates and manages the activities of staff performing capital projects construction management, construction/public works inspection and land survey in the City’s Public Works Division; schedules, directs and coordinates the work site inspection of both CIP construction projects and development projects throughout the City; directs and supervises a survey party performing topographic, boundary, rights-of-way and other surveys; and performs related duties as assigned. |

Minimum Qualifications:

Licenses,Certificates, Special Requirements: A valid California Driver's License and the ability to maintain insurability under the City's vehicle insurance policy. Education/Experience: Graduation from a four-year college or university with major course work in civil engineering, construction management or a closely related field; and five years of progressively responsible engineering and construction project management experience, at least two (2) of which were in a supervisory or program/project management capacity; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. |
