Hiring range $10.52 to $10.80 hourly. Charlottesville Parks and Recreation Therapeutic Programs is seeking energetic, caring, and patient individuals for sub work with individuals with disabilities in various recreational settings. Responsibilities include promoting social skills and safety awareness during all activities, supervising participants, and assisting with activities where there is a need. Performs routine human support and para-professional work involving a variety of duties related to the supervision of individuals with disabilities in therapeutic recreation activities; does related work as required. Primarily and most frequently the work done here is under direct supervision, within one functional area, and of a routine nature.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties:
Duties could also include some driving, based on DMV driving record. Mostly evening or weekend work with typical activities to include day trips, overnights, special events, dances, etc.
Education, Experience and Skills:
Education: Any combination of education and experience equivalent to completion of the eleventh grade. Experience: Prior experience working with individuals with disabilities is desired. Skills: Some basic knowledge of disabilities, therapeutic recreation activities, and safety expectations in a recreation setting; ability to maintian order among participants; to instruct participants; to deal courteously with the public.
