Job Title: Program Assistant-Teacher Work Day

This position supervises and leads after school participant groups.

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Actively lead participants in recreation and leisure activities.

Administer first aid and properly document each incident.

Set-up and break-down equipment; report equipment problems to supervisor.

Maintain clean work and play areas.

Serve snack/meals to participants

Assist with school/homework assignments.

Carries out job duties in a safe manner in accordance with all Town, department and regulatory policies; follows safety procedures. Identifies unsafe situations and work hazards, corrects them if possible and reports them to their supervisor.

Other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities: None.

Knowledge of:
Recreation activities.

Town and department policies and procedures.

General safety rules and regulations.

First aid.

Ability to:

Communicate effectively orally and in writing.

Ability to read, write and perform mathematical calculations

 Minimum Qualifications:
An equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the job. Must be 18 years of age at time of employment.

Experience: Minimum of 6 months working with children.

Certifications, Licenses, Registrations:

Certification in first aid required within three months of employment.

Good driving record and ability to drive a 15 passenger van are a plus.

 Supplemental Information:
Physical Demands: Work is typically performed while walking, standing, sitting, bending, crouching, stooping or occasionally running. Employee will occasionally lift light and heavy objects.

Work Environment: Work is performed both indoors and outdoors. The employee may be exposed to noise, infectious and/or contagious diseases, and inclement weather.
