SUMMER ENGINEERING INTERNSHIP PROGRAM


Central Arizona Project recognizes the importance of assisting future engineers to prepare for careers in their field. To this end, we offer internship opportunities that will allow students the best opportunity to apply their knowledge and skills and transfer their internship experiences to their college studies and professional endeavors. Through our supervised internship program, we strive to ensure that future professionals will enter the civil, mechanical, electrical, or water systems engineering fields with a sense of responsibility, dedication and commitment.

ELIGIBILITY All Internship Applicants must meet each of the following eligibility conditions:

  • Must be currently enrolled at a four-year accredited university with a declared engineering major
  • Must be in the third or fourth year of college
  • Maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above
  • Commit to participating in the Internship Program for the full twelve-week period.
  • Ability to pass a Background Investigation
  • Willing to participate in periodic assessment surveys
  • US Citizen or proof of eligibility to work in the United States
  • Valid Arizona Driver's license

SCHEDULE This is a full-time (40 hours per week) 12 week program lasting through the summer - approximately May 24 through August 13, 2010 depending on the specific school calendar. Hours may be flexible to accommodate needs of a department as well as availability of Interns.

COMPENSATION Interns will be paid $16.00 per hour. There are no benefits associated with internships.

In addition, students must attach to their application transcripts of college coursework and a one to three page essay describing why they are interested in the internship program, their career objectives and the benefits that will accrue to the intern and CAP.
