|
| This position provides counseling and case management for individuals, families, and groups (both legal and voluntary clients), as needed to cover for counseling staff vacancies due to sickness, vacation, etc. |
|
Examples of Duties:
|
v Conducts client intakes and evaluations, including treatment planning, client histories, case notes, and follow-up services.
v Coordinates action for crisis situations.
v Provides crisis intervention counseling and ongoing counseling to a caseload of clients, including individuals, groups, and families.
v Maintains and updates client data.
v Performs related duties, as required. |

Required Qualifications:
|
Education: Graduation from an accredited college or university with either a bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences or related field, or a M.S.W. or M.A. in counseling, psychology, or related field.
Experience: One year of professional substance abuse counseling experience.

Supplemental Information:
|
v Ability to work with minimal daily supervision.
v High level of skill in providing effective communications and counseling.
v Knowledge of addiction process and ability to work with people and families in crisis and from varying cultures.
v Ability to work effectively with angry, resistant, and/or intoxicated clients.
v Knowledge of psychopathology and ability to provide education, prevention, and intervention services.
v Experience in assessment and evaluation of drug and alcohol clients.
v Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including educational presentation skills.
v Good organizational skills.
v Ability to work well with other employees, outside agencies, and the public.
Special Requirements:
v Prefer Colorado Alcohol Drug Abuse Division (ADAD) CAC II certification. If a non-practicing substance abuser, must have a minimum of three years abstinence. |
